Augusta Precious Metals vs. Advantage Gold (2026): Which Gold IRA Fits You?

Augusta Precious Metals vs Advantage Gold, in short: Augusta is the better fit if you are moving $50,000 or more and want every account fee in writing up front, because it publishes them and says it pays the yearly fees for up to 10 years. Advantage Gold may fit smaller accounts and people who want platinum or palladium, but it publishes neither its minimum nor its fees, and it reported a data breach in 2026. Both are long-running companies with A+ BBB ratings. Here are the details, side by side.

Augusta vs Advantage Gold fees: what you can know before you call

This is the clearest difference between the two. Augusta lists its account fees in its FAQ. Advantage Gold's FAQ does not list a fee schedule, so you have to ask for it.

10 years of account fees on a $50,000 IRATotalHow we got it
Augusta, if your account gets the full 10 years paid$50$50 setup; Augusta pays $235 a year
Augusta, with no fee offer$2,400$50 + $235 x 10
A typical published fee schedule (for comparison)About $2,300 to $2,430Goldco and Birch Gold's published fees over 10 years
Advantage GoldAsk for the scheduleNot published

How to use this: when you call Advantage Gold, ask for the setup fee, the yearly custodian fee and the yearly storage fee in writing, then multiply by ten and compare with the rows above. If they offer any fee waiver, ask for how many years and get it in the paperwork.

The bigger cost at both: the spread on the metal. On $50,000, every 1% of spread is $500. Ask both companies for the price of each coin and the spot price on the same quote.

Track Record

Complaints and record: Augusta vs Advantage Gold

Augusta: A+ with the BBB and accredited since February 2015. Our search of the SEC and CFTC websites in October 2026 found no enforcement action naming Augusta. Details are on our Augusta complaints page.

Advantage Gold: A+ with the BBB and accredited since 2014. In March 2026, Advantage Gold sent notices, filed with several state attorneys general, about a network intrusion it discovered on September 5, 2025. About 7,960 people were affected. The information involved included names, contact details, a limited number of Social Security numbers and custodian account numbers. The company said the cause was a vulnerability in third-party firewall software, and it offered affected people credit monitoring.

What this means for you: the incident was about customer data, not about metals or account balances, and Advantage Gold notified people and offered monitoring. If you are a current or past customer, read your notice letter and consider a credit freeze. If you are choosing a company now, it is fair to ask any dealer how it protects your personal and account information.
